MENTORS

How well would Luke Skywalker have done without the guidance of Obi Wan Kenobi?
Pretty badly we suspect. And the rebellion would have collapsed and the empire would have tightened its grasp over the galaxy.
This point just illustrates how important it is to have a good mentor.

ProjectScotland mentors provide our volunteers with guidance and support to help them complete their placement successfully and take their lives forward into education or employment once their placement has finished.

That sounds like a lot of work, but it’s not really. Maybe an hour a week, a couple of times a month. Maybe more, maybe less, depending on the needs of the individual volunteer.

Mentors are just ordinary folk who’ve made their way in the big wide world. People like you who are looking for something rewarding to do that fits in comfortably with their lives and their work.

Over 80% of volunteers have moved into education, training or employment after finishing their ProjectScotland placement. That figure is only possible through the support and encouragement of their mentors.

We need more mentors every day. Use the force. Or alternatively use the phone or the web. You could be securing the future of a young person, if not the entire galaxy.
