It’s like the Oscars, but spelt with a ‘v’. The voscars is our way of shouting about the huge contribution ProjectScotland volunteers make to Scotland. And it's happening again for 2008! Check out last year’s event and winners. This year, the voscars will be awarded on the 23rd of September at The GRV in Edinburgh. As well as receiving a voscar trophy, volunteers will be treated to some V.I.V (very important volunteer) treatment! Nominate an outstanding ProjectScotland volunteer - the only rules are: they must have been in their placement on or after September 2007, and the placement must have run for longer than 2 months. Do it do it do it now! Well, actually do it before the 31st of July. Find out more and nominate a worthy volunteer click here.
This year we wanted to recognise your ProjectScotland Mentors too. Those ears that listen, those brains you pick, that person who nudges you in the right direction. They are wise like Yoda and here's your chance to thank them. To nominate a magic mentor click here.

I completed a 6 month placement at Penumbra. I had struggled with jobs due to illness and been out of work for 2 years prior to my placement. I made good friends on placement, conquered my fear of heights and climbed a 40ft beam, helped organize a big conference for young people AND the best bit we made a short film which won a highly commended award for Diversity at the Mental Health Film Festival in Glasgow recently. With the help of the ProjectScotland Personal Development Fund I have gone back to uni part-time to study PGDip Community Education in February. I've just submitted my 2nd assignment and I'm loving the course. Without the funding I could not have paid for the course. I'm now on the road to the career I've always wanted thanks to ProjectScotland. Claire Chue Hong Jolly Good, Claire, have £55! Email us your exploits at voluntear@projectscotland.co.uk.
