IN SEPTEMBER'S VOLUNTEAR:Voscars & Moscar Winners 2008...Calling all volunteers to The National ConversationEmail of the Month
Voscars & Moscars Winners 2008
They assembled in Edinburgh from all over this green and wet land of ours. They travelled down from the wild bits, across from the rainy bits and along from the funny bits to gaze upon the spectacle that is the Voscars 2008. The reason - to recognise our amazing ProjectScotland volunteers. Proving that heroes don’t need bulging biceps, trembling triceps and a worrying use of tight, colourful clothing in order to be heroic. No, they give up their time to help their local communities. It is these heroes, these king and queens amongst men that we honoured at The GRV.

Have your say in the National Conversation
Fancy a shiny new Nintendo Wii, complete with Wiii Sports game, for free? Yes, I hear you say….Well, how about that plus the opportunity to support the organisation that helps support you? (That would be us, ProjectScotland!) Of course you do, why wouldn’t you?
On page 3 of the survey you’ll find the Government asking you about the issues that are important to you. As a favour to your favourite charity why not select ‘Charities’ as an issue that concerns you. Then let those big politicos at Holyrood know what a difference ProjectScotland has made to you and how you hope other young people all over Scotland will have the same opportunity.
Those who complete the survey are entered into a prize draw for the copy of Wii Sports and the console to play it on. It’s as easy as that and you’ll be done and dusted in the time it takes to boil an egg.

So my ProjectScotland placement has come to an end or well almost... I'm looking back on what I’ve done its mad is hard to take it all in. I’ve been mountain biking, ice skating, away to camp, lead groups, helped people progress, and learnt so much my people skills have improved leaps and bounds.
I can safely say I’m not the same person I was 6 months ago. When I started I was really shy and a bit freaked out by the whole office environment and my confidence wasn’t that great either. That didn’t last long as I didn’t have a chance - the place was too busy for me to be shy. Phones ringing, young people coming for help, trips away.
I built relationships with so many of the colleagues. I’ve been a sponge soakingup there knowledge lol. But really I have learnt so much from them, how to defuse a heated situation or how to negotiate between young people, how to plan and plan, and my pool game is amazing now.
This year I am going to keep volunteering to build on my skills and before I start college next year I plan to do bit of travelling.
All in all, my time at Canongate/ProjectScotland has been so rewarding and I would like to thank both of these organisations for the help and experience I have received.
