During periods of economic downturn it is our nation's youth who can face the biggest challenges. It is estimated that 17% of young people in Scotland are now claiming jobseekers allowance. Even for those young people fortunate enough to have a degree, the situation in Scotland is bleak - 44% of graduates are in non-graduate jobs. The SolutionProjectScotland’s full-time volunteering projects change their lives and aspirations, and their youth and energy give an enormous boost to the capacity of the voluntary sector and the communities in which they volunteer. The Results • 89% of volunteers report increased confidence• 87% report improvements in taking responsibility• 86% report improved people and relationship skills• 8 out of 10 of volunteers move into full time employment, further education or business start up Your ParticipationProjectScotland needs to engage with businesses in Scotland who are able to help when and where it is most needed. There are young people the length and breadth of Scotland who need help and who are just waiting for funds to ensure that they can be placed. By becoming a Pillar of ProjectScotland, you will be ensuring that we have funds available to help young people as soon as they apply, wherever they may be and whatever their needs are.
