Introducing our new Editor...
Howdy Volunteers! This is Craig Moran, your brand spanking new VoluntEar Editor, from ProjectScotland HQ calling. I’m so new that the labels and wrapping are still on me. This will be my first issue of the VoluntEar as editor, or as they call me around here ‘El Presidente’ (I wish!), and for the next few months I’ll be the guy in charge of throwing this bad boy together.
However, we mere mortals can’t always bring our ‘A game’ to the table every month so I’ll need your suggestions, comments, thoughts, fan mail and hate mail (Why would you hate me? I’m lovely.) to be hurtled my way through cyberspace to make my life that wee bit easier.
You’ll find me at: voluntear@projectscotland.co.uk and I’ll endeavour to answer your email. Don’t worry, I don’t sleep. Ever. So if you want to let us know how you are getting on feel free to fire an email my way. Remember, I’m a volunteer on placement just like you. Yes, you, so I’ll know exactly what you’re going through right now.
By the way, ProjectScotland, as ever, has its finger on the pulse and we’ve got profiles up on Facebook, Bebo, Myspace and Youtube. How cool are we? So do feel free to add us as a pal because you can never have too many friends and ProjectScotland is starting to feel a little bit lonely. On our pages you’ll see other like minded fellows who have volunteered with us and by adding us as a friend you could meet up with other volunteers to swap placement stories and make new friends. You’ll find us drifting in cyberspace: here (for myspace), here (for bebo) , here (for youtube) and finally here (for facebook)
Anyway, thanks for reading and have fun on your placements. Editor Moran out!
Millennum Volunteer Awards - a CV to be envied
The Millennium Volunteer Awards (MVA) are an Executive endorsed award that recognises the positive impact that your volunteering has had on your community. There are three awards for completing 50, 100 or 200 hours and if you have been on your placement for more than three months then you will have completed well over the 200 hour mark.
The 50 and 100 awards are signed by the Cabinet Secretary for Finance & Sustainable Growth (John Swinney) and the 200 hours Award of Excellence is signed by the First Minister – that CV is looking better already!

Email of the Month
Hey ProjectScotland! What’s up? I just thought I would share my thoughts on the greatness of ProjectScotland so you can rightly feel good about yourselves and so other volunteers can see how amazing you dudes actually are! My journey with you guys has been a good one :D I have many things I’d like to thank you for.
That took me to Poland to work as a volunteer for a few weeks and then you guys told me about a position at Young Scot as a Youth Engagement Volunteer. So I went along to the interview, and they offered me the job, which lead to me having one of the best years of my life so far! Those guys were amazing, and both you and they helped me tons when I decided to come to work in America for the summer. I really don’t think I could have made it here without help from your amazing Personal Development Fund.
So I've been in America for about two and a half months, I’m having a truly awesome time, and I now feel like I’m actually going somewhere in life. I have gained things that will last me a lifetime, including confidence, self esteem, motivation, (a pretty good CV), memories and amazing friends. Money just can’t buy that kind of stuff, so I’d like to thank you for giving me the chance to gain it! I owe you guys big time, thanks for everything! :D
