VOSCARS WILD!
This is the face of ProjectScotland’s Volunteer of the Year 2007.
His name, mere mortals, is Robert Keys! Congratulations Robert.
For those of you who missed out it all began with champagne and schmoozing around in the ridiculously beautiful Hub. This was accompanied by the munch; Haggis neeps and tatties, plus some damn good veggie haggis on plates with glass holders, how
cool is that? Out of nowhere came the thunder of drums and the skirl of bagpipes causing much turning of heads and a general sense of “ooh something’s happening”.
The ceremony was kicked off by comedian Des Clark off the telly who, in what seemed like only one breath, managed to cover every topic from terrorism to the Commonwealth Games as the crowd creased themselves suitably. This was all just preamble to the actual voscars, our way of recognising just how great ProjectScotland volunteers are. The commendees were commended, the voscar winners awarded and the crowd responded with whoops of joy, tears of happiness, cries of adoration and whoo-whos of worship. And that was the voscars 2007! I think. There was an awful lot of free champagne… If that wasn’t enough for you
go here
and find out more about who won what and why.

EMAIL OF THE MONTH
I began a placement with ProjectScotland in February 2007 which led to a brilliant job
offer in June 2007. It wouldn’t have happened without ProjectScotland and I just want to say thanks again for all the help and support I got, as well as from my placement organisation, LGBT Youth Scotland. This time last year I was stuck in a complete rut and I’m so glad things have changed for the better!
I've also written an article about how my volunteering experiences led to good employment prospects for one of Glasgow University's student magazines.
