THE VOSCARS 2009

On 1st December the red carpet was out for the poshest of the Voscars yet. Our volunteers are an exclusive bunch and we thought they all deserved a bit of sophistication!

ProjectScotland volunteers descended upon the classy premises of Lloyds Banking Group in Edinburgh, munching their way through trays of canapés and showing Scotland’s glitterati how to have a good time the ProjectScotland way!

The evening was all about celebrating the great and the good of Scotland's young volunteers.  Footage from the night explaining the stories behind the winners has been uploaded on Youtube

We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who was involved and congratulate those who were nominated, we’re tickled pink to be working alongside such high achievers. Click here to look at the 2009 Voscars brochure.

As always folks ProjectScotland are very proud of you, a big SHOUT out to ALL our volunteers!

FRIEND US ON FARMVILLE

Are you a web surfer? ProjectScotland’s a big fan of Twitter, Bebo and Facebook so friend us there! Our new hobby is Farmville, although so far we’ve only figured out how to grow Soya Beans, so become our neighbour there and we might even send you a Turkey… or something equally random. Whilst you’re logged on have a shot at our blogger of the month competition and you might win a £25 high street voucher. No harm in trying.

TOP 5 CRIMBO GIFT IDEAS

What recession? ProjectScotland’s got some top tips for gifts that are fun, classy and, most importantly, that won’t break the bank.

  1. Make your own Christmas cards. If you’re not a fan of giving presents have a bash at creating your own Christmas cards. Easy peasy. All you need is some A4 paper and a few colouring in pens. ‘I’m lame at art’ is no excuse – tracing paper is a fine tool for outlining an image. WARNING: you might be amazed at how many people prefer a home made card to a shop bought gift.

  1. Go vintage. Vintage doesn’t have to mean worn and crusty. Trendy & chic people are logging onto websites such as Freecycle and Snaffleup. Here people list old furniture and belongings that are more than often FREE. Search out the bargain of the century & do the environment a favour by recycling. Vintage is vogue.

  1. 3.    Snap it. Print it. Frame it. A relatively inexpensive gift idea that tends to get people all nostalgic at crimbo, frame an old photo! Have a rummage for old pics or print some from your digital camera. Most leading Supermarkets have photo booths which allow you to transform images stored on USB sticks or on your cameras memory card - they print on the spot! Cheap yet highly thoughtful. Love it.

  1. B.O.G.O.F … no not you! We’re talking about Buy One Get One Free. Source out the best deals online before you go shopping and keep it inexpensive. You don’t have to spend a fortune, leading supermarkets often do B.O.G.O.F.’s on things like chocolate boxes and ‘2 for 1’ deals on CD’s. If you’re buying things online check out the Easy Fundraising website. Easy Fundraising will donate £4 to ProjectScotland when you create a members account with ebay. You could even sell stuff in aid of ProjectScotland!

  1. For bakes sake! Can’t do any of the above? Get baking. Try Rocky Road or the famous Fairy cake! Yum. Recipe’s are available online and some of them are ultra simple taking very little time to throw together. Have a tasty Christmas.
