Welcome newbies

You don’t do you?

Our new mascot

Welcome newbies!

Welcome to all our new volunteers! ProjectScotland recently visited new volunteer Mark (23) who has just begun a placement with Enable. Mark, who has recently qualified with a degree in media and communications from Glasgow Caledonian, was looking for a way to gain experience in the fundraising line – cue ProjectScotland!

We matched Mark with Enable Scotland who are a Glasgow based charity run by its members. They campaign for a better life for children and adults with learning disabilities and support them and their families to live, work and take part in their communities.

Since Mark started with Enable he’s been organising various fundraising events. These include ‘Third Degree Burns’ – a fire walk, ‘Sportsman’s Dinner’ and ‘Ladies Lunch’.

Mark and Enable are a fantastic match, Mark is gaining skills, experiences and contacts which will be with him for life and Enable are truly thrilled with the work that he is doing for them. Go Mark!

Why not send us your volunteer story? Pop it in an email, we would love to hear from you and you’d be putting yourself in the running to win £25 of high street vouchers.

You don’t... Do you? Shameful!

This week we’ve been utterly shocked at ProjectScotland HQ! BBC news online have reported that there’s a trend for going shopping in your jim jams, it’s become such an issue at one store in Wales they’ve even had to put up signs saying it’s not allowed.

Here at ProjectScotland we’re all for a bit of comfort and down time but we need some opinions on this please… Are Tesco being bullies or are the general public just being slackers?

Our new mascot

Watch out for this little guy! He’s a limited edition sock monkey and he might be coming to visit you!

Dressed in his best, Jock will be making the rounds of our current volunteers. Oh that’s right folks, he’ll be coming to stay with you – he’ll arrive via Royal Mail, his favourite form of transport!

Take Jock volunteering and photograph him out and about with you. The pics will get posted on Facebook so that everyone can see where and what our wee Jock’s been up to!!

After we shake our heads, muttering "Good grief, why whould anyone not want to receive the VoluntEar?", we'll take you off our mailing list.
