IN JULY'S VOLUNTEAR:
And the winner is...
These Boots were made for walking

And the winner is...

Last month we offered the chance for one lucky ProjectScotlander to win a Close Friend of the Fringe pass and a pair of tickets to the exclusive Fringe launch party. Amy Drysdale, that person is you! Wear your smug grin with pride and perfect that swagger.

These Boots were made for walking!

Fancy taking in some beautiful scenery and helping future ProjectScotland volunteers at the same time? Get a team together and enter the Thistle Challenge, a charity fund raising event taking place on Saturday, 13th September 2008 in the Caingorms. Volunteering Highland and Osprey Adventures Ltd are organising a hill walk open to all.

Money raised goes to the charity of your choice – Us you say? How kind! The money you raise would help fund a ProjectScotland placement. How good would that feel?! (Sigh.)

So how about it ProjectScotlanders? Take a hike! Defy the midgies! Heather from the Weather assures me that there will be sun in Scotland on that day.

For more information or to register go to www.thistlechallenge.org, email promotions@volunteeringhighland.org or call 01463 711 393.

Email of the Month

It’s strange to find myself at home on a week day. Last week, and for the last four months, I would have been at my wonderful, life-changing ProjectScotland placement. Joining in February with vague ideals of doing my bit, I never imagined how involved I would get. I volunteered as a Youth Development Worker and now I can’t imagine ever having not done it. The kids were wonderful, the office was wonderful, and I walk away from ProjectScotland with so much more knowledge – not just of youth work, but of life. The day I left was incredibly sad. I’m off to volunteer for 10 weeks in Costa Rica/Nicaragua with Raleigh International, but I’ll never forget the experience I’ve had. I’ve laughed (lots), cried (some), met amazing people and met even more amazing young people. So thank you. I will happily recommend ProjectScotland to everyone and anyone! Cheers!
