  ProjectScotland outing to Holyrood

At the beginning of April this year ProjectScotland’s government funding stopped altogether.  At the end of May a merry band of ProjectScotland volunteers, mentors and partners went to the Scottish Parliament to ask First Minister Alex Salmond to reconsider his decision. We felt the love of all our friends and the MSPs who came along to hear the stories were left in no doubt as to the value of ProjectScotland. Unfortunately Alex Salmond said that his decision remained the same – no more dosh for ProjectScotland.

But never fear.  The ProjectScotland show aint over!  There are no singing fat ladies on the horizon!  ProjectScotland is investigating a few funding options.

During our day at the Parliament, a cross-party group of MSPs led by Bill Butler all spoke strongly in favour of reinstating funding for ProjectScotland (Hurrah!) So, our friends at the Parliament will be campaigning for a reinstatement of funding.

If you would like to share your story with the MSPs and let them know how ProjectScotland has changed your life, please drop us an email at info@projectscotland.co.uk and we will forward it on to the Parliament.

Back at the ProjectScotland ranch we are in discussions with Skills Development Scotland regarding the role we might play in the national delivery of non-formal and volunteering options under 16+ Learning Choices.

So, ProjectScotland is still here and we are putting every effort into ensuring that young people across Scotland can continue to enjoy the ProjectScotland experience.

Will we ever tire of funny cats?

It seems not.  When the boffins at Stanford University were developing the concept of the internet back in the 80s, none of hem could possibly have expected that their system for data transfer would be used by millions across the world to watch moggies with uncanny musical abilities.

The sunny weather we have enjoyed over the past few days has got us thinking ahead to the Edinburgh Festival.  We’re really looking forward to our annual influx of unwashed fire-eaters and suspect mime artists.  Here are a couple of entertaining street performers.

    ProjectScotland Superhero Friday

In February we launched ProjectScotland Superhero Friday, and to be perfectly honest it was a bit chilly to be roaming the streets with nothing to separate us from the elements but a thin layer of lycra.  That is why we are encouraging our supporters to get out there this summer and host a summer season ProjectScotland Superhero Friday to raise money for ProjectScotland. Hot weather is a great excuse for slipping into something a bit more skimpy, like these guys.

SO, WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT THEN?
Firstly, we want you guys to give a big shout out for ProjectScotland, to raise awareness of our charity and the heroic deeds that ProjectScotland volunteers do all over Scotland every single day. Secondly, we need to raise funds in order to give even more young people the chance to change their lives.

GET INVOLVED
If you would like to register to take part in Superhero Friday, get in touch!  Get on the blower to 0131 226 0700 and ask for the Superhero Advice Team, or drop us an email.

What are you doing on the last weekend in July?
