MAKE SOME NOISE Saturday 20th March saw the first ever fundraising concert for ProjectScotland. The very talented Edinburgh Concert Band brought us a bit of cul-chur with some popular classics and then let loose with a Michael Jackson medley and some great superhero themes. Dah nah nah nah na nah nah nah BATMAN! We're still awaiting a final figure for the funds raised on the night. Proceeds will be split between ProjectScotland and Ripple Africa.

EMAIL OF THE MONTH Hi. I’m Ed Whitley and I’m volunteering through ProjectScotland at Fablevision productions in Govan. Before I found ProjectScotland I was busy getting nowhere with finding work. I graduated from university in 2009 with a degree in Sustainable Development but I had a feeling that research science wasn’t for me. I didn’t know what else I wanted to do and didn’t have much work experience. As well as that, I only moved to Glasgow in 2007 so I didn’t know many people in the city. This placement has taken me out of the fruitless grind of looking for work and, apart from anything else, it has allowed me to say to people: 'I am in a film production company', instead of always saying: 'I’m job hunting', then to the follow up question: 'no nothing yet'. On my placement I’ve learned film camera work, got to grips with editing suites, green screen special effects, interviewing techniques and even leadership skills. Also I have made some good friends from different backgrounds. I’m looking forward to the first stage in Fablevision’s 5 year plan called Voyage Of Dreams, where 10 of us form a crew, train up and sail a boat round the west coast to commemorate the Olympics. For one project I visited youth groups in Cumbernauld and Penilee and did drama games with the young people. I enjoyed this so much that after the placement I plan on joining a youth camp in America.ProjectScotland has really opened my eyes to real life. I’m from a small town and I will definitely recommend volunteering to all my friends back home. Why not send us your volunteer story? Pop it in an email and send it through to voluntear@projectscotland.co.uk. We would love to hear from you and you’d be putting yourself in the running to win £25 of high street vouchers!

SPRING HAS SPRUNG Spring has well and truly sprung and Easter is just around the corner. It is the time of year when cute and fluffy beasties begin to roam the countryside and turn us all in to big mushy softies. Here is a photo of some lambs to get you in the mood. Awwwwwww! A bit more random is this video from Flippy Cat. Not sure that it is actually very spring/Easter themed but it is pretty cool!

JOCK THE SOCK MONKEY Last month we told you all about our new mascot, Jock, who is out and about visiting some of our volunteers across the land. Jock adores being in the limelight more than Jordan, Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan combined so he loves it when our volunteers paparazzi him and put his mug shots on Facebook. So far he has been to stay with Mark Horgan, events fundraiser volunteer extraordinaire at ENABLE in Glasgow. You can find Jock's holiday snaps here. Jock is now with Kirsty Campbell and brothers Steven and Garry Griffin (aka the Attick-a-teers) up in Dundee. All three are volunteering as Youth Workers at a youth group called the Attic. They help plan and run sessions for young people in Dundee city centre. If you want to keep up to date with how Jock is getting on, just head over to the ProjectScotland Facebook group.
