Havin' a laugh

Time for a laugh...

The first snow of the winter has fallen, the temperatures have plummeted faster than a bank’s shares and it is dark when I wake up in the morning. Truly, November is a grim month. So what better excuse to once again show some youtube-based hilarity? Flimsy, maybe, but I’m running with it.

We kick things off with some ball-to-face comedy. Call it sadistic, call it childish, but there really is nothing funnier than seeing a football connect with an unsuspecting person’s face. Of course, it isn't funny if you're on the receiving end. I speak from bitter, painful experience. The two finest ball-to-face videos right now are:

This one and this one.

Next we tackle the bizarre world of the music video. Why do the videos for songs rarely have anything in common? When Chris Martin walked backwards in ‘The Scientist’ it didn’t look scientific, it just looked daft. When Kelly Jones, of Stereophonics fame, sang about ‘A Thousand Trees’ there wasn’t a forest in sight. And when Bono sang ‘I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For’ there was no footage of him rummaging around for something, as you might expect. He was just walking along a pavement.

Thank goodness, then, for this video on youtube.

That's yer lot. Until next time, volunteers!

Buying a Christmas Tree isn't the only way you can help out ProjectScotland, y'know. Enjoy online shopping? If the answer to that question is yes then have we got news for you.

You can now support your favourite charity simply by buying your goods online. Sound simple? That's because it is. All you have to do is head on over to our friends at Easy Fundraising where there are over 600 of the UK's best known shops to choose from.

Easy Fundraising

Just click on the links to the retailers through the Easy Fundraising site and a percentage of what you spend is given to us. Needing to buy Dad that John Wayne DVD? Then click the link for HMV. Perfume for Mum? Then Debenhams is on there and much, much more.

So why not do your Christmas shopping online? You'll beat the queues, you'll keep warm and you'll be helping us out. It's win-win!

Email of the Month

Hi there,

I have just completed a 12 month placement with Levenmouth YMCA.  I was volunteering as a youth theatre and dance workshop leader. This has been a great 12 months volunteering around the Fife county, meeting lots of young people and creating some really great shows with large casts of children.

Lucy McGreal

This has been a rewarding placement both with volunteering with the young people and the various talented and professional creative staff I have had the pleasure of volunteering with.

I have taken part in a talent show which was performed on the local high street, taken part in a film as an extra and planned a youth theatre festival for 4 different community groups of children.

I would like to thank Levenmouth YMCA and ProjectScotland for all their help and assistance throughout my year.  I am now moving on to freelance work where I am able to use the skills I have learnt and progress into a more professional field.

Thanks again

Lucy McGreal
Levenmouth YMCA project

Thanks Lucy, £55 on its way. E-mail us at voluntear@projectscotland.co.uk to let us know how you're getting on.
