Life; post ProjectScotland. I volunteered as a Marketing Assistant for my placement at Friends of the Earth Scotland with grand thoughts of working for a charity and doing my bit for the world. I very much enjoyed my time there, learned heaps, developed professionally and at the end got a sweet job for a small Edinburgh charity. Excellent! It gets better… After 6 months volunteering I applied for the ProjectScotland PDF to fund a CELTA course to teach English abroad (not to mention a week sailing on the west coast to get my RYA Competent Crew certificate!) I figured I studied English at uni, it would make mama mighty proud to see me use some of that vat of knowledge. Skip to the end… I passed the course! Highly recommend it. I'm now writing to you lovely people from Russia where I landed two days ago to start a 9 month teaching contract here in Moscow. Happy days. On my way home today I stopped and stared at a sign that I had no comprehension of whatsoever and thought to myself - Alex, how in Sam hell did you end up here…? After being swiftly herded along by a group of Muscovites behind me and a small mental digression it was obvious… ProjectScotland. Full stop.
