Callum, Edinburgh
I graduated from Glasgow University with a degree in English Language, a non-vocational course with no obvious career path. Project Scotland seemed like an interesting way to get some more experience and to focus my skills. It also offers a great deal to communities. It’s done a lot more than that though. Getting a placement at the Fringe would have been nearly impossible without Project Scotland’s help. Everyone I’ve spoken to recognises that both ProjectScotland and the Fringe are great companies to work with. Already I’ve had a lot of hard and exciting work. Since I have a degree in English, the staff at the Fringe have given me tasks that are of interest to me, great experience and challenging. I’ve been involved in writing small pieces for the website and writing high profile letters. Although this often isn’t a major task, it has definitely given me writing experience I wouldn’t otherwise have and it will boost my CV. The Fringe have given me a lot of responsibility but there are always more experienced people who are happy to help. I’m also getting a lot of outings to parties and previews.
