The VoluntEar
Stuart
Stuart, Stirling
I am a volunteer officer for BTCV in Stirling. Having finished a Forestry degree last year I found it difficult to get a job as I did not have any experience. Volunteering with BTCV has given me great experience. Since I started I have already planned projects, made funding applications as well as all building upon my technical skills. I have also built up a good network of contacts that should help me to find the right job. The training has been brilliant including a risk assessment course, a mini-bus certificate and hopefully I’ll get my chain saw certificate very soon. None of this would have been possibly without the help of ProjectScotland. I can’t give volunteering enough praise for the opportunities that it has given me so far. Everyday I’m doing something different and working outside which I love from creating a new footpath for a care home, working in primary schools or building a new footbridge in the countryside.
