We’ve launched in Aviemore!Posted on October 16, 2017
Friday 13th is unlucky for some and while it nearly was unlucky (two of our team got on the wrong train!) it was a day of celebration for us as we launched our new programme in Aviemore and the surrounding areas.
It was a great day packed full of information. Attendees heard from Paul, our Chief Executive, volunteer Sandra and Ros from Badenoch & Strathspey Community Transport Company, a local charity who has been working with our volunteers. They also heard from Gillian from Witherby Publishing Group, the organisation that help fund our work in the area and Gillian is one of our awesome mentors so she was encouraging the audience to become a mentor too.
Gillian, Managing Director at Witherbys, said: ‘Witherbys has supported ProjectScotland over the past few years. It’s a lovely moment to be at the official launch of the Aviemore office and its programme in the area. We are all very proud of the wonderful work they do to help 16-30 year olds get on in life. Congratulations and wishing the team all the best.’
We have been working with a range of local charities to provide valuable volunteer placements to help young people gain experience, new skills, make friends and, of course, have fun. So far we have worked with Glenmore Lodge (who kindly provided the space for our launch), Forestry Commission, Badenoch and Strathspey Community Transport Company and Cairngorms National Park Authority, plus several more.
Kieran, who recently completed his placement at Glenmore Lodge, shared his story with us and it’s a great read if you want to find out more about what it’s like to volunteer with ProjectScotland.
If you know someone that would like to volunteer, would be an awesome mentor or a fab charity partner – tell them to get in touch! We’d love to hear from them. You can have a browse of just some of the volunteer opportunities we have available on our Aviemore page.
