IMG_20150910_210153734We love nothing more than hearing how volunteers have benefited from their placement.

It was particularly exciting when Amy Porter got in touch to tell us she felt so good about her volunteering experience that she was prepared to walk through fire so she could give someone else that same experience. And no, we’re not exaggerating.

Amy got thoroughly stuck into her placement with Venture Trust in 2014, helping with event organisation, promotion, and fundraising. With the support of her line manager and her ProjectScotland mentor, Amy’s confidence soared and she began to get a better idea of what she wanted to do after finishing university.

IMG_20150910_213142404Reflecting on her experience and how it transformed her confidence, Amy released that she wanted to help another young person just like her and decided to get involved in some fundraising of her own. On the 10th September Amy completed the SAMH Firewalk in Edinburgh and raised over £700 for ProjectScotland.

Amy said: “I want to give something back because ProjectScotland helped me out so much.”

Thank you Amy! Your gift will help to give another young person a volunteering placement. They will grow in confidence, gain new skills, and get in life all because of you.
