Give an Hour; Change a Life – Mentor with ProjectScotlandPosted on December 1, 2014
On 2nd December #GivingTuesday will be held for the first time in the UK. It’s a time when most of us will be busy thinking about Christmas shopping. #GivingTuesday gives us at ProjectScotland the opportunity to be part of a national conversation to flip the spotlight towards what we can also do for others at this time of year.
With your help we want to build the #GivingTuesday movement by encouraging you, your colleagues, family, and friends, to participate by becoming mentors for ProjectScotland. Our trained Mentors work alongside a team committed to giving great opportunities which can change young people’s lives. The support a mentor can offer is invaluable, from providing CV advice and interview support, to goal setting and confidence building.
ProjectScotland needs mentors all over Scotland in order to continue placing young people into volunteering roles with the best possible support. If you’re open, enthusiastic, friendly, a good listener and can offer one hour a week you’re exactly who we’re looking for. You’ll be given all the training and support you need to become a successful mentor, so why not seize the chance to make a real difference to a young person? Perhaps a member of your team is looking for a personal development opportunity, becoming a mentor might fit the bill. Apply online – Give an Hour; Change a Life.
You can help us spread the word on the day too – you could join our Thunderclap and spread the word about our mentoring programme to your networks with just the click of a mouse. Alternatively you can join us for our ‘Mentor Twitter Takeover’ between 1-2pm on 2nd December, where two of our current mentors will be sharing their experience of mentoring via twitter. Why not ask your own questions and find out first-hand about the impact these relationships have on both our mentors and our volunteers.
Remember, if you can ‘Give an hour’ you can ‘Change a life.’
