While we’ve got many excellent volunteering opportunities available throughout Scotland this May, it’s always nice to share one or two that stand out like a cat’s eyes at a torch convention.

  • Right now Firstport and Icecream Architecture have a great opportunity in Glasgow for someone to grow their events experience as part of a project linked to the Commonwealth Games. The project, called Beyond the Finish Line, is working to inspire and involve young entrepreneurs (16-30) in making practical long term improvements to local areas within the city of Glasgow during 2014. They are looking for a friendly and outgoing person to volunteer for the duration of the project.
  • Our partner Create Aberdeen provides arts and performance activities for adults with additional support needs in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire. They are looking for somebody to come on board to help support, encourage, and assist the adults in a variety of creative activities. This is a volunteering placement that will see you making a massive difference to people’s lives while gaining experience of care work.
  • We’ve partnered with the Edinburgh Marathon Festival to provide a volunteer race crew for the main event on Sunday 25th May. There’s a chance to get some first aid training (and a certificate); and you’ll get to help hundreds of runners, who in turn are helping hundreds of charities. Learn more here.

Remember, while we’ve highlighted these three volunteering opportunities this month, we do have many, many, more excellent and worthwhile opportunities throughout the country. Have a look at our volunteering map for more examples.
