Lauren’s Story: Volunteer Mentoring

Posted on April 11, 2022

To encourage more people to get involved with volunteer mentoring, we recently asked Lauren, one of our amazing mentors, to tell us what it’s like. Here’s what she said:

I am really passionate about working with young people and contributing to reducing barriers in society for disadvantaged communities. I was interested in joining ProjectScotland in order to make a difference and support an individual in working towards their goals. Volunteering is also a great opportunity to develop personal skills and I really wanted to expand upon my skills of working with young people.

I really enjoyed working with my mentee as it brought new but rewarding challenges. The most rewarding aspect was seeing how the young person’s confidence and skills developed over the course of 6 months. I am very grateful to ProjectScotland for the opportunity and would recommend mentor volunteering to anyone!
