Lost your Mojo? We can help you get your groove back!Posted on May 18, 2020
Today marks the start of #mentalhealthawarenessweek and this year’s theme is kindess. We are very proud and privileged to work alongside people who are kindness personified.
First up, our amazing volunteer mentors are getting a mention.
“We are both on a journey. We listen, learn and grow together as mentor and mentee.”ProjectScotland, Rissa de la Paz
Traditionally our mentors have supported ProjectScotland volunteers during their placements. In response to COVID-19, we are now offering access to our mentoring service for anyone aged 16-35 in need of a supportive chat.
Because in the loneliness of lockdown we know you might need some practical support to get your groove back!
Rissa de la Paz is one of our volunteer mentors. She has been doing an amazing job of supporting young people as a ProjectScotland mentor for more than 3 years and was motivated to volunteer her time after benefitting from a mentor herself.
“It’s a partnership. You are choreographing a unique dance with your mentee, a chance to let their personality and talents shine.”
Our mentors have vast experience of supporting young people and with a little help from technology are now able to reach even more people in need, remotely. Whether it’s a WhatsApp message, Zoom catch up or call, our mentors are helping with things like:
- Coping strategies
- Building resilience
- Preparing people for a return to volunteering or the start of a new placement
- Job applications
- CV skills
- Money management & advice
But most importantly, our mentors are very skilled at listening, so please get in touch if you are in need of a supportive chat.
Get your mojo back!

The outbreak of COVID-19 has meant that we’ve had to make a few adjustments to how we do mentoring. Mentoring sessions can now take place entirely remotely – this can be over the phone, video chat, or whatever method works best for the mentor and their mentee. We are also currently developing more online training and resources to ensure that all our mentors have the support they need to do the great work they do in a safe environment.
