Maxine’s Volunteering Journey ends in EmploymentPosted on May 5, 2020
Maxine, or Mags as we know her, has been unemployed for 2 years, so we are particularly delighted she has found a fantastic new job she is excited about. Having started her training this week, we wanted to wish her every success.
Looking to gain experience and confidence, we matched Mags to the perfect placement with a new, community organisation in Dundee called Reuse & Recycle. The charity uplifts furniture from local businesses and distributes to charities at no cost, in line with their zero-waste policy.
Mags worked closely with the founder Doug and did an amazing job. She was responsible for supporting the administrative tasks and coordinating all the furniture requests.
“…working with ProjectScotland has boosted my confidence no end. Everything is done at my pace, when I’m ready and the support is amazing. I’ve loved volunteering (at Resuse & Recycle) and it has given me confidence to apply for a job, which I was successful in getting!”
Working in partnership with Enable Dundee, our local team, namely the lovely Clare Dyer, supported Mags to secure a role at Tesco in Customer Service and we couldn’t be more proud of her or delighted for her.
Even a lockdown won’t stop us!
We have successfully adapted our service to support our volunteers, in line with social distancing guidelines. Maxine’s volunteering journey is one of many similar stories that demonstrate the progress and the impact our team, our volunteers and our charity partners continue to make during a very challenging time for Scotland’s communities and economy.
