Why volunteering matters: from our team to you!

Posted on June 3, 2016

Our Partnership team love that #VolunteersWeek gives them the opportunity to say thank you to all our wonderful volunteers. The team is made up of Volunteer Coordinators, Partnership Managers and Employability Managers who sort out everything from meeting new charity partners, to getting to know our young people and matching them to the perfect role.

To mark #VolunteersWeek we thought we’d find out a bit more about what our team think about volunteering, and why they love what they do!

Kim: I think volunteering is amazing, it allows young people the opportunity to test the water and see what interests them!  Volunteering doesn’t just give you new skills it also helps you make new friends!

Ursula: I love volunteering because I truly believe it gives people the opportunity to unlock their potential while giving back to amazing charities! I get to speak to so many amazing volunteers, and I really do love what I do.

Lee: I think volunteering is a great way to enhance your skills while you give something back to the community. I love doing what I do because I help them to realise their potential and see young people grow and feel they have a  positive future.

Ails: I love my job setting up volunteering opportunities and nothing makes me happier than hearing from you, our amazing volunteers, telling me how much you’re getting out of the experience. If you’re happy, I’m happy, job done. I know our partner organisations appreciate you and many couldn’t do what they do without you. Keep up the awesomely good work.

Logan: Volunteering allowed me to explore career options and develop new skills whilst really helping others – undoubtedly volunteering full time is one of the best decisions I ever made.

Laura (not pictured): My time volunteering gave me so much more than I expected! I made so many friends and a whole social network that supported me in getting a job.
