My career in the third sector began when I moved to Glasgow. The move from a small town to a city proved quite difficult for me and my saving grace was volunteering as an Adult Literacy Tutor.
This led me into working with a training company where I became particularly interested in working with people with disabilities and health conditions. My next move took me to Erskine (Charity) where I was the Training Manager. I worked with Veterans from the armed forces and managed an Employment Services, Supported Employment Contract. An initial offer of a secondment opportunity to work as a Placement Liaison Officer for the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations, on the New Deal Programme, led to fulltime employment and ultimately the role of Head of Employment Services.
I thoroughly enjoy working with Project Scotland. Seeing and hearing how people flourish through volunteering is heart-warming.
